Court Space, conceived by Ezequiel Olvera, began as an exploration of art and civic space in the spirit of LA's transient nature. Ezequiel started exhibiting art in untraditional venues, making the most of public domains such as tennis, basketball, and handball courts. These efforts not only provided a platform for artists but also reshaped these spaces into immersive landscapes.
A significant number of Court Space's exhibitions have adopted a guerrilla-style modus operandi, challenging and sidestepping bureaucratic and economic hurdles. This rebellious approach exudes a tenacity inherent in art, even when faced with constraints.
Ezequiel Olvera as an artist is interested in the narratives public space can evoke, but also how art integrates into civic life or evokes reflective experiences.

Ezequiel Olvera is an artist whose practice is devoted to piercing institutions through projects utilizing critical discourse, site-specific concepts, and radical aesthetics. He is interested in forging a culture of prestige for black and brown artists through elevating the poetic expression within American survivalism, intellectual hustling, and gambling artistic intuition. His writing has been published by X-TRA, Topical Cream and The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles.
